ZTE 5G new calling platform accelerates business innovation through dynamic AI plugin integration

Shenzhen, China, 18 November 2024 — ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a global leading provider of integrated information and communication technology solutions, announced that China Mobile Research Institute and ZTE have jointly launched a real-time integrated communications AI platform. This innovative research outcome was showcased at the PT Expo China 2024, aiming to build an open, intelligent, and agile network foundation to empower 5G new calling and accelerate service innovation.
Since 2020, China Mobile has spearheaded the transformation of calling services, conducting research and pilot projects with partners like ZTE. Together, they successfully advanced the R&D of 5G new calling technologies and standards, achieving nationwide commercial deployment by the end of 2023. Services such as Fun Calling, Subtitles, Real-time Translation, and Light-up Screen were successively launched, delivering an ultra-high-definition, intelligent, and interactive calling experience to over 25 million users.
In response to the rapid development of AI technologies and evolving business scenarios, China Mobile Research Institute introduced the concept of a real-time communications integrated AI platform, with ZTE being the first to develop a product-based solution. At the heart of this platform is its bidirectional open ecosystem architecture. Through a plug-in approach, network devices can dynamically load third-party AI capability plug-ins. Leveraging service-based technologies, both AI and 5G new calling network capabilities are exposed to external applications, enabling operators to flexibly integrate the latest AI services, extend the 5G new calling end-to-end value chain, and expand the real-time communication 2B/2C ecosystem.
As a key partner in China Mobile's 5G new calling industry, ZTE has been actively engaged in ecosystem development and industry promotion. In ecosystem construction, ZTE collaborated with enterprises like Shanghai Vidas Software Technology Co., Ltd and Shanghai Chenguan Info Tech Co., Ltd to validate flexible orchestration and on-demand dynamic loading and unloading of AI capability plug-ins, ensuring rapid service updates and an open ecosystem. For industry promotion, ZTE pioneered the pilot solution of the integrated real-time communication AI platform, serving clients in sectors such as finance, government, enterprise, and e-commerce, thereby accelerating the application of 5G new calling capabilities across industries.
