China Mobile and ZTE have completed the deployment of an AI Agent-driven personalized experience solution

2025-11-19

ZTE Corporation in partnership with China Mobile Group Research Institute, has successfully implemented the AI Agent-driven 5G personalized experience solution — dubbed the “User-Centric Intelligent Network Service Solution” — at China Mobile Anhui, marking the official entry of China’s 5G/5G-A networks into a new era of “intent-driven, experience-first” intelligent services.

For a long time, consumers have been faced with static and standardized data plans, which are unable to meet the dynamic needs of high-value scenarios such as live streaming, cloud gaming, and remote office for low latency and large uplink. The innovative solution launched this time has completely changed this situation. Users do not need to understand complex parameters. They only need to enter natural language commands such as “I want stable live streaming” and “No lag during meetings” in the operator’s App. The underlying AI Agent can respond in seconds, automatically invoke network resources, and generate exclusive service strategies, realizing the deterministic connectivity experience previously only available to enterprise private networks.

Underpinning this innovation is an intelligent service system that deeply integrates AI with 5G core capabilities. The solution establishes a “Personalized Service AI Agent” as the central hub for user interaction, using natural language processing to understand user intent and leveraging NEF+MCP (Model Context Protocol) Server to seamlessly connect BSS/OSS (Business Supporting System/Operation Supporting System) systems with the 5G core network. The NWDAF (Network Data Analytics Function) performs big data analytics to create comprehensive profiles of users, services, and networks, enabling proactive prediction of congestion risks. Meanwhile, the intelligent User Plane Function (UPF) coupled with Smart DPI (Deep Package Inspection) precisely identifies traffic flows and enforces dynamic QoS policies tailored to “one network per user, one strategy per moment”, truly realizing the vision of “network proactively serving users”.

During the practical implementing by China Mobile Anhui, the solution demonstrated remarkable results in live streaming scenarios for internet-famous influencers: the average uplink rate of services increased significantly, the average latency was reduced by half, and the MOS (Mean Opinion Score) doubled, greatly enhancing the streaming fluency for content creators and the viewing experience for audiences. Even more exciting is its potential for commercial returns—in the short term, it can quickly improve existing users’ satisfaction and loyalty toward China Mobile’s 5G network while attracting high-value new users to choose China Mobile. In the medium to long term, by leveraging this solution to monetize the enhanced capabilities of 5G/5G-A networks, such as high bandwidth and low latency, the goal of promoting users’ digital consumption can be achieved. This is expected to drive a significant increase in ARPU, opening up a new growth curve for China Mobile.

Notably, the solution demonstrates exceptional compatibility and scalability. All intelligent capabilities are provided by the network side; no app installation or device modifications are required on user devices. Customers can interact seamlessly through their existing operator apps after upgrades. Built on a cloud-native and microservices architecture, the system supports horizontal scaling, allowing capacity to grow on demand. Moreover, by incrementally deploying AI Agent and leveraging 3GPP-standard interfaces, the solution enables smooth upgrades on existing networks, achieving “non-intrusive” integration and significantly shortening deployment cycles.

Industry experts point out that this solution represents not only a technological breakthrough but also a fundamental reshaping of service philosophy. It restructures the “atomic capabilities” of 5G networks into perceptible and invokable service units through AI Agents, pioneering a new business model of “Experience as a Service”. As 5G networks enter their return-on-investment phase, such innovative solutions—centered on user experience while delivering both cost optimization and revenue growth potential—will become key levers for operators to enhance competitiveness.

Looking ahead, as AI and communication networks converge further, a smarter, more agile, and personalized mobile internet ecosystem is rapidly emerging.
