ZTE Joins CNCF as a Gold Member

2017-10-19

20 October 2017, Shenzhen, China – ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet,  has become a gold member of  Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) , the world’s famous open source organization at the ZTE Wireless and Service User Conference in Brussels, Belgium. It indicates a reward of ZTE’s in-depth participation in the global open source technology ecosystem, and its strength in major open source projects of container services, NFV and so forth.

CNCF was established in July 2015. It is part of  Linux Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to unifying cloud computing interfaces and related standards. Currently it manages 12 projects including Kubernetes, Prometheus, OpenTracing and so forth. It now has more than 130 members, and awards membership grade according to the member’s contribution in codes and standards as well as its commitment to the open source community.

According to Zhang Jun, ZTE open source technology expert, the technology development of container provides new ideas for cloud computing, and has a positive and far-reaching impact on the field of Telecom and cloud computing. ZTE’s ICT unified platform Tulip Elastic Cloud System (TECS) including container services can well serve carrier NFV field, helping operators provide faster and better services to achieve continuous integration, continuous delivery and reduced developing cost. Meanwhile it can  also provide  PaaS services for enterprises and governments to achieve digital transformation.

ZTE is a global supplier providing container service platform solutions based on Kubernetes and Docker. Currently, in the Kubernetes community, ZTE is ranked fifth in the global contribution while in the Docker community, ZTE ranked seventh. In the Kubernetes community, ZTE mainly contributes on kubernetes, kubernetes.github.io, community, ingress, test-infra, cluster-registry and other modules. In the product design, ZTE container technology not only embraces open source technologies to enable users to conveniently orchestrate and deploy microservices, but also creates Kubernetes-based carrier-grade plug-ins such as high-speed and multi-concurrent network plane. In addition, it realizes the highly-reliable, high-performance and programmable container-based microservice solutions on ZTE carrier-grade high-speed network.

In the future, ZTE will continue its in-depth participation in technical exchanges, project development and feedback of  the open source community, to further promote the development of open source ecosystem.
